Canadian-American actress Catie Shelley is known for her stratospheric coloratura and effervescent stage presence. Most recently, Catie made her Lincoln Center debut covering the principal role of Leah in New York City Opera’s world premiere of Stonewall and performed as Valencienne in The Merry Widow with St Petersburg Opera Company. She also recently reprised the role of Glinda in The Wizard of Oz with Vital Theatre Company after returning from the national tours of Pinkalicious and Flight School the Musical. This year, Catie performed in the inaugural performance of Broadway Around the World at Green Room 42, and subsequently in her debut at 54 Below. Off-Broadway and regional credits include Miss Dorothy Brown in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Cora in Little Mary Sunshine, Trudy in Hollywood! Hollywood!, and Whoopee.
A true crossover artist, Catie performs a variety of operatic repertoire including Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Phyllis in Iolanthe, Cupid in Orpheus in the Underworld, Marie in The Daughter of the Regiment, Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, and Greta in Street Scene. As a concert artist, Catie performs in venues such as The National Opera Center, Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, Imperial Theatre with Symphony New Brunswick, Green Room 42, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the McCarter Theatre.
Catie earned a Bachelor of Vocal Performance from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia and an Artist Diploma with a concentration in Opera from the John J Cali School of Music. She attended New York University Steinhardt earning a Master of Music in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Music Theatre. She performed as a studio artist with renowned Young Artist Programs such as Opera New Jersey and the Halifax Opera Festival.
